Special Issue on Health Education Theory, Research and Practice in Child and Adolescent Obesity Prevention

In 2006 Health Education Research intends to publish a special issue on health education in child and adolescent obesity prevention. Very few papers in the literature to date have focused specifically on health education theory, research and practice related to child and adolescent obesity prevention.

It is hoped to produce a special issue that celebrates the diversity of health education activity in the area of child obesity prevention, including theoretical papers as well as research reports from programs and interventions which have been implemented. Papers are invited that report the findings of child obesity prevention studies in school, community or internet-based settings as well as papers that offer critical reflections on any aspects of the philosophy of health education research, policy and practice as it relates to child obesity prevention. Papers relating to clinically-based child obesity treatment programs are not suitable for this special issue of the journal.

All papers should conform to the Health Education Research Instructions to Authors which can be found in the first issue of each volume and on the journal website at http://www3.oup.co.uk/jnls/list/healed/instauth.

The deadline for receipt of submissions is February 1, 2006. Papers should be submitted electronically via Health Education Research's new online system, Manuscript Central. You can access the site at http://mc.manuscriptcentral.com/oup/her. Please note that all papers will be subjected to the normal peer review process.

All enquiries regarding this special issue can be emailed to the Guest Editor, Dr Jennifer O'Dea, at j.o'dea{at}edfac.usyd.edu.au. For more information on Health Education Research, please visit http://her.oxfordjournals.org/
