BOOK REVIEW

Book reviews have appeared in the Journal periodically over the last couple of years. It is intended in future that the Book Reviews section will provide a more substantive contribution to the Journal and thereby a more comprehensive service to its readers.

The Book Reviews section will normally consist of:

  1. Newly published books. A subsection highlighting selected, newly published books received by the Journal that are felt to be of key relevance to readers. In each case, basic details and a brief description of the relevant publication will be provided. An indication will also be given if the book has been allocated for a more formal academic review by HER. [Where a named book has not been allocated for formal review and a reader is interested personally in carrying out a 1000 word review for the Journal (in return for retaining the book), please contact the Book Reviews Editor—details at the end of this section.]
  2. Book reviews. A subsection containing reviews of specified books by HER reviewers. (If you are interested in becoming a reviewer for HER, please contact the Book Reviews Editor—see above.
  3. Books received. A subsection listing and giving brief references for books formally received by the Journal.
  4. Specialist reviews. In addition, it is planned occasionally to produce special book review subsections—such as my 10 favorite recent books, or perhaps a review by a guest reviewer, or a specific grouping of books on the same theme.
