Vietnam veterans, Vietnam-era veterans and Vietnam-era non-veterans were compared on health status. Data were generated on 168 participants responding to the Cornell Medical Index Health Questionnaire and a self-reported health status questionnaire. Vietnam veterans reported experiencing more illness symptoms and participating in a greater number of negative health behaviours than either the Vietnam-era veterans or the Vietnam-era non-veterans. Implications for health educators include the construction of health education programs designed to promote risk reduction targeting Vietnam veterans and their children.
